Best Pan for Searing Steak: Choosing Your Stovetop Pan

The best pan for searing steak depends on your cooktop, the space you need and how you like to cook. Start with a surface intended for browning, a base that fits your burner and enough room to cook without crowding.

Which Urban Nest pan should you choose?

The Urban Nest Uncoated Titanium Steel Frying Pan is our starting point for steak and pan sauces. It comes in 26, 28, 30 and 32cm sizes and is listed for gas and induction cooktops. Choose the size for the steaks you actually cook, rather than the largest diameter alone.

If you also want depth for steaming and simmering, compare the Hammered Titanium Multi-Use Pan. Its 24–34cm range offers pan-only, glass-lid and lid-with-steamer options. Its deeper profile suits mixed meals; you do not need the steamer accessory just to sear steak.

Uncoated or non-stick for steak?

For a browning-focused purchase, start with our uncoated pan collection. If easy release for eggs and delicate foods is your priority, a non-stick pan may fit your everyday cooking better. Follow the heat limits supplied with the exact pan; a titanium label alone does not establish its maximum temperature.

What size works best?

Check the flat cooking area as well as the advertised diameter. Steaks should fit without being packed together, and the base should suit your cooktop zone. For several steaks, cooking in batches can work better than putting an oversized pan on a small burner. Our frying-pan size guide helps you compare sizes.

Can this pan go from stove to oven or table?

Our current range is not rated for oven or broiler use, so choose a different documented oven-safe pan if oven finishing is essential. For serving at the table, use a heatproof trivet and protect your hands: cookware and metal handles can be hot. Check the selected handle configuration before purchasing.
