Which Titanium Pan Is Right for You?

We make five pans. They divide into two families, and once you know which family you want, choosing a size takes about ten seconds.

First question: do you want a coating, or not?

This is the only decision that really matters. Everything else is size.

Uncoated titanium Titanium non-stick
Food release Good, once you preheat properly Excellent, immediately
Browning and searing Excellent Limited — coatings resist the gripping that creates crust
Lifespan Effectively indefinite Finite — years, not decades
Metal utensils Yes, no coating to damage Rated safe, but gentler is kinder
Heat High heat welcome Low to medium only
Learning curve Preheat, then oil, then food None
Price $84–144 $59–152

Choose uncoated if you sear meat, cook at high heat, or you are tired of replacing pans whose coating has started to lift.

Choose non-stick if you mostly cook eggs, pancakes, fish and weeknight dinners, and you want food to slide out with no thought at all.

The five pans

Uncoated titanium

Pan Sizes Best for Price
Urban Nest Uncoated Titanium 26–32cm Searing steak, pan sauces, browning. Side handles and a detachable hexagonal handle so it goes to the table as a serving dish. $84–92
Hammered Titanium Multi-Use 24–34cm The one-pan cook. 7.6–9.5cm deep, takes a steamer tray and lid, so you fry, steam and boil in the same pan. $129–144

Titanium non-stick

Pan Sizes Best for Price
Lightweight 24cm 24cm Eggs, pancakes, one or two portions. Just 800g, so flipping one-handed is easy. $59–61
Large Titanium Non-Stick with Lid 30–34cm Family cooking. 9cm deep, big enough for a stir-fry for five or a whole fish laid flat. $81–83
Titanium Non-Stick Pan Set 32cm The complete kit — pan, lid, stainless steamer and spatula. Best if you are starting from scratch or buying a gift. $152

What size do I need?

Cooking for Size
One person, or eggs and breakfast 24cm
Two people 26–28cm
Three to five 30–32cm
Six or more, or batch cooking 34cm

When you are between two sizes, take the larger one. Food crowded into a pan steams instead of browning, and you cannot fix that by turning up the heat.

Common questions

Will eggs stick to an uncoated pan?

Not if you preheat. The sequence is: heat the empty pan for a minute or two, add oil or butter, wait for it to shimmer, then add the egg. Food sticks to cold metal, not hot metal. If you skip the preheat, yes, it will stick.

Are these safe?

The uncoated pans have nothing applied to the cooking surface at all — there is no coating to break down, flake or transfer to food. The coated pans are food-grade and PFOA-free.

Do they work on induction?

Yes, all five work on induction and gas. The Hammered Multi-Use Pan also works on electric.

Can I put them in the oven or the dishwasher?

We do not currently rate any of these pans as oven, broiler or dishwasher safe, so please hand wash them and keep them on the hob. We would rather tell you that plainly than have you find out the hard way.

Which one would you buy?

If you only ever buy one pan: the Hammered Multi-Use Pan in 28 or 30cm with the steamer. It is the most capable thing we sell and there is no coating to wear out. If your budget is tighter and you cook mostly breakfast, the Lightweight 24cm at $59 is honestly the better buy.

Still unsure? Email info@urban-nest.online and tell us what you cook. We will tell you which one to get, including if the answer is none of them.
